You will be missed:-( | Rochester Family photographer

Thursday, July 21st, 2011

I am so bummed that one of my long-time family clients just moved down South this month:-(. After photographing their family for almost 3 years I had to say goodbye- but hope it’s not forever! Hopefully they will come back up this way once Dave finishes his residency and then we can reconnect! OR I guess I’ll just have to make my way to North Carolina to see them!! Best of luck to you guys- you will be missed!!!

Blog carnival- “Laughter”… {Rochester portrait photographer}

Sunday, July 17th, 2011

I am so honored to be able to participate in this fantastic blog carnival with so many incredibly talented photographers!! Each month we will choose a theme and create an image that reflects it. Last month’s theme was “framed” and this month we chose “laughter”. I had a ton of images I could have used for this- but this one took the cake. Especially since it made me literally laugh out loud when I saw it.  Little Mila was a ham throughout the session and reminded me SO much of Lola when she was that age. I love photographing two year old kiddos- it is one of the cutest ages, because they are starting to develop their little personalities and are completely unfiltered….  as evidenced by this photo:-)

Next up in the blog carnival is Grand Rapids, Michigan photographer Mary Beth Vreugdenhill! She’s awesome!!!

Living… | Rochester Portrait Photographer

Saturday, July 9th, 2011

The other day I received a thank you note from a very special family I had photographed, and I’m so deeply moved that I had to share.

So many times I find myself not being fully present, constantly thinking about all the things I have to do and have yet to do, worrying about whether I’m doing enough- with my family, my children, my work, my self-growth…. Second-guessing what I’m doing in a moment rather than treasuring it for what it is and enjoying just being in it.  Sometimes it takes a note like the one I received to remind me that all is as it should be… that I’m on the right path.

Within this heartfelt thank you from this amazing mom, she had enclosed a piece of paper with a quote on it… and explained that although she had written the note weeks ago she hadn’t mailed it- feeling like it wasn’t the right time- until she saw this… and then she knew it was time.  Thank you Pam- for sharing your most precious experience with me, and for reminding me that I am where I’m meant to be.

Blog Carnival Theme#2- Monochrome | Rochester Portrait Photographer

Sunday, May 1st, 2011

I am so honored to be able to participate in this fantastic blog carnival with so many incredibly talented photographers!! Each month we will choose a theme and create an image that reflects it. Last month’s theme was “reflection” and this month we chose “monochrome”. For some reason this one was more difficult for me but after shooting a maternity session of a wonderful friend last week I found an image that was perfect for it!! I loved this image the second I shot it:-). It’s a bit different than what I typically would show but I couldn’t stop thinking about it so it seemed fitting to share!

Lots more images will be shared from that session in the future- stay tuned:-)! We also have some BIG news coming up!

Next up is the ubertalented St. Louis photographer,  Lauri Baker- please swing by to see her interpretation of the theme!

The before and after….Rochester portrait photographer

Friday, April 22nd, 2011

Ok people- I’m going to be honest….I’m having some serious anxiety about posting this upcoming image for all to see on the information-superhighway….

I’m sure I’m going to sound totally vain here, but I have to admit that the thought of posting a pic of me sans makeup, in the early morning is literally making me need more wine… cause folks…. it ain’t pretty….   BUT I’m doing it to prove a point and to show you all what the proper lighting, posing, and makeup (from the wonderfully talented Melissa Bockus at MB Studios) can do to an image. I have some other before/afters but I thought it was only fair to post the one of myself first! (OMG I cannot believe I’m posting this right now… if you come back and this post is gone it’s because I had total regret for sharing lol)!

I am very excited about some upcoming ventures and cannot wait to share with you all once everything is finalized. For now, if you are interested in more info just post a comment, or email me and I’ll fill you in.
